MiniCat GUPPY is a 3 metres-long sailing inflatable catamaran that’s easy to carry and can be carried in a car or taken on a plane.

The new Minicat GUPPY is the latest model in the portable catamaran brand’s range, which currently consists of the three cats: Minicat 460, Minicat 420 and Minicat 310. Like its predecessors, the GUPPY was developed in collaboration with famous sailor Laura Dekker and offers a new construction concept.

The trampoline of the GUPPY model is for the first time firmly connected to the two hulls and also remains attached when folded. This reduces the assembly time for the ready to sail Minicat GUPPY to just 10 minutes compared to the other models. The inflatable catamaran weighs only 26kg, making it very easy to transport – even on foot – in its stowage bag ((165x30x30cm).

The catamaran, which is suitable for two persons, is easy to assemble by rolling out the hulls and trampoline, inserting the two 0.50 metre long keel fins, inflating both hulls, inserting the centre tube and rudder, putting the three-part mast together and finally pulling it into the sail and placing it on the water.

The Minicat GUPPY glides and reaches speeds of up to 15 knots. Thanks to its lightness, GUPPY can sail well even in weak winds and its low draught keel fins make it stable, easy to control and usable in shallow and inland waters.

Max Zhivov, the designer behind the houseboat concept Modul GO and the LEGO inspired MYBO modifiable yacht system, has unveiled his new design for an eco-friendly, noise, vibration and exhaust gases-free boat that can be recharged from solar panels or wind power: the VIK Boat.

The hull of the VIK boat has been designed to move in displacement mode for energy efficiency so that the vessel only loses little energy to the formation of waves. Zhivov says that this allows the owner to take a weekend trip on a single battery charge.

The galley, helm station and saloon with table and a seats which can be turned into a bed sleeping two, are insulated to retain heat and benefit from circular glazing for visibility and to allow for plenty of light.

The VIK Boat boasts a spacious forward cabin with a toilet and shower and there is also a sleeping area situated in the opening roof which can be used in hot climates and warmer months.

Aft there is an open cockpit with seats, ideal for socialising, and a bathing platform, whilst the mast has been fitted with a lifting device which can be used for toys or a small tender.

The propeller and rudder have been designed with added protection from submerged objects, strong side fins provide extra stability and manoeuvrability.
The vessel’s electric motor is optimised for cruising speed, with enough power to tackle strong winds and waves. In case of unforeseen weather conditions or unscheduled route changes, a small diesel generator has been added as a backup energy source.

Optional solar panels and a wind generator to recharge the batteries during travel and when the boat is moored can also be installed.
Vik Boats also come with the option of installing a diesel engine instead of an electric motor.

Some people decorate their homes, and some turn their beautiful boats into a veritable winter wonderland for one of the most magical nights of the year.

What could be more enchanting than seeing a vessel all decked out for Christmas?

Fairy lights, Santa, Rudolph, the Snowman, Christmas trees, holly, gifts and even gingerbread houses all sit atop the boats, making for an enchanting festive spectacle as they sail wrapped in what look like sparkling stars.

It doesn’t get more festive than this!

Some vessels are a veritable explosion of colours and Yule characters. Some keep it simple yet effective with gold lights wrapped around the mast and covering the sails.

Many marinas around the world host a Christmas boat parade, where owners really push the boat out (forgive the pun!) to deck their craft with festive motifs. But some have a twist! Florida sees the occasional alligator complete with Santa hat floating away on a vessel. And it’s no surprise that Australians like to add a surfboard or two to their Yule decorations. For the little ones, even Winnie the Pooh makes an appearance!

Fresh from launching the SILENT 55 at the Cannes Boat Show, Silent-Yachts has unveiled their latest, biggest solar-powered craft.

Three SILENT 79 catamarans are currently under construction in Marotta, near Ancona, Italy. Two have already been sold with one being launched in 2020.

Silent-Yachts Founder and CEO, Michael Köhler has created the SILENT 79 concept, while Enrique Castilla of Insenaval is responsible for naval architecture. Marco Casali of Too Design was commissioned to design the exterior and interior of the new yacht.

“I think, solar-electric boats are the future that is why I immediately agreed to work with Michael Köhler on his exciting venture,” said designer Marco Casali, who has previously designed superyacht projects with the likes of ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts, Itama and Canados.
“Solar power is about square meters, so we need to dedicate as much surface to the solar panels as possible, while keeping the overall balance in shape. In my opinion, we managed that with the SILENT 79. What I tried to achieve is an interesting Italian design, sophisticated and refined. This is a nice-looking yacht that meets efficiency.”

With solar panels placed on top of the flybridge,  SILENT 79 is similar in design to its predecessors, but bigger. It boasts clean lines and large windows that flood the saloon and guest spaces with light and provide panorama views.

The aft cockpit benefits from a lounge and a bar, while the forward area boasts a sofa and sunpads, perfect for relaxing and entertaining.

On the main deck, the 10.95 metre-wide saloon features a galley, lounge and a dining area, whilst the lower deck has 4-6 cabins, with an aft master suite, plus two crew cabins. All staterooms offer double or twin berths, and all heads include a separate shower. Other layouts are available on request.

“For example, the first unit, which is under construction now, has a balanced 4-cabin layout with two real owner cabins”, explains Marco Casali. “The aft master suite has a huge room, a study, a walk around closet and even a sauna.”.

As there is no actual engine room because the yacht is solar-powered, the SILENT 79 has the largest garage in the category. “There is enough space for a 4.5-meter long tender, an amphibious car and a gyrocopter on floats, which is quite impressive for a yacht under 24 m long”, comments Michael Köhler. Since the Silent-Yachts’ signature is to be eco-friendly, the yacht is principally decorated with environmentally-friendly lightweight and recyclable materials.

The oceangoing solar-electric catamaran SILENT 79 is built using vacuum-bagged resin infusion to create a lightweight glass-sandwich composite construction that has sound-and temperature-insulating qualities and uses silent electric propulsion for unlimited range, without noise or fumes and minimal vibration. Silent-Yachts says that the yacht is self-sufficient and virtually maintenance-free.

The catamaran is fitted with a pair of electric engines (50 kW each in standard “Cruiser” version, 250 kW each in “E-Power” version) and common shafts and is the fastest in the company’s fleet, reaching up to 20 knots.

The catamaran is capable of going at 6-7 knots in complete silence and with unlimited range passing around 100 nautical miles per day.
With 70 high-efficiency solar panels rated for approximately 25 kilowatt-peak, the SILENT 79 uses maximum power point tracking (MPPT) solar charge regulators and the same lithium batteries as used by Tesla, which provide capacity for all-night cruising, while a 15-kVA inverter provides power for all household appliances. The catamaran also has a generator which is only used to recharge the batteries or if higher speed is required for longer periods of time or in case of prolonged bad weather.

There’s also a “Hybrid Power” version of the SILENT 79 with a pair of 220hp motors combined with two 14 kW diesel engines.

Lexus has announced production their luxury yacht: the LY 650.

This yacht follows the concept of their twin-V8 powered sport yacht which was unveiled in 2017 in partnership with Toyota Marine Division.

In March this year Lexus announced that their yacht was no longer going to be simply a concept, but a reality, and that production was due to start soon.

The 65 foot yacht will be built in partnership with Marquis-Larson and will feature the company’s ‘L-finesse’ design. With a 19-foot long beam, the LY 650 will feature a striking, pronounced bow and curved deck.

The company has decided to produce the craft following the public interest in their twin-V8 powered sport yacht, fuelled by Executive Vice President; Shigeki Tomoyama’s desire to “present a dream-like vision of the luxury lifestyle; one where the Lexus Yacht expands the potential of Lexus mobility to the ocean.”

The first completed Lexus LY 650 is expected to be finished in the second half of 2019 and will be debuted globally late in the year.

Toyota have announced that they will be producing a larger version of their twin V8-powered sport yacht concept.

The yacht concept was created by Lexus Design, engineered by Toyota’s Marine Division and built in partnership with the Marquis-Larson Boat Group. It was showcased in Miami in January 2017, but there were no plans to produce it for the worldwide market.

Accepting the award for the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept, Shigeki Tomoyama, TMC Executive Vice President with responsibility for the marine division, announced the plans and said: “Based on our amazing experiences in engineering, building, testing and showing the Lexus Sport Yacht concept last year, we’ve decided to take the next bold step of producing an all-new, larger yacht. This will build on the advanced nature of the concept while adding more comfort and living space.

“We plan to start sales in the USA in the latter half of 2019, with sales in Japan following from the spring of 2020.”

The new yacht will be built in partnership with Marquis-Larson.Planned as a larger, 65-foot sport flybridge cruiser. It will feature luxury cabins below deck that will sleep up to eight people and space to entertain up to 15 guests.
The vessel will boast high-tech multimedia system, Mobility Services Platform (MSPF), smartphone integration, remote diagnostics, and other services. Design wise, it will be finished with hand-crafted wood and leather detailing.

Following in the footsteps of Aston Martin and Mercedes-Benz, Lexus is the latest car manufacturer to get into the yacht business.

The Japanese luxury car manufacturer has unveiled its twin V8-powered sport yacht concept.

However, before you get too excited, the yacht is just a concept and there are no plans to put it into production.

Instead, it has been designed as part of plans to see how Lexus, which is a division of Toyota, might expand in the future into new areas of lifestyle and recreation.

The inspiration for the project came from the Toyota Marine Department, which has been preparing a new range of Ponam yachts that are soon to launch in Japan.

The Ponam line has in the past included 26 and 28-foot fibreglass sport-fishing boats, and 31, 35, 37 and 45-foot luxury cabin-cruisers.

It was while testing the new Ponam yacht that a decision was made to see how Lexus could branch out into the marine market.

A brief was given to two separate teams at the Lexus Design Centre in Japan to create an open sport yacht for recreational day sailing, accommodating six to eight people, powered by twin high-performance Lexus V8 engines, with advanced handling and styling.

Their concepts were submitted for evaluation in summer 2015.

“This allowed us to explore how Lexus design language could be applied to a maritime idea,” explained Lexus International vice president, Yoshihiro Sawa.

“For the Lexus Design Centre this project has been very exciting. The effort is valuable to us as it stirs our creative energies and pushes our imagination to design and lifestyle possibilities outside of the automotive realm we know so well,” he added.

The selected proposal was refined throughout 2015, with the Marine Department engineering the construction and on-board marine systems.

Marquis-Carver Yacht Group, based in Wisconsin, USA, was selected to build the concept.

Features of the new Lexus sport yacht include an upper deck and outer hull which are seamlessly bonded around an inner structure.

Each piece is a single, massive structure made from hand-laid Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP).

CFRP is a materials technology used in the construction of race cars and road-going supercars such as the Lexus LFA, as well as for high-performance aircraft, competition skis and bicycles and world-class racing yachts.

The sport yacht’s CFRP construction saves almost a tonne compared to the weight of a similar yacht made from Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP).

The underwater hull has a stepped design to reduce drag and improve handling balance at high speeds.

The concept is powered by twin 5.0-litre V8 petrol engines, based on the high-performance unit featured in the Lexus RC F coupe, GS F sport saloon and the new LC 500 luxury coupe.

Each engine produces more than 440bhp/328kW, driving the yacht at speeds up to 43 knots through a pair of hydraulically controlled inboard/outboard stern drives.

Screens show GPS navigation, digital charts, surface radar, underwater sonar, lighting and entertainment systems.

The captain’s seat is power-adjustable with armrests that fold out to become jump seats on either side.

The standing-height forward passenger cabin is finished in luxurious Lexus leather with wood and glass details.

Sofa seating for six, a table and air conditioning create a comfortable environment for entertaining.

In the galley there is a two-burner stove, sink and under-counter refrigerator.

The facilities in the head include a shower.

Videoworks of Italy has created a fully networked, integrated audio and video entertainment system, with 4G, WiFi and WAN.

Sound reproduction is by Revolution Acoustics surface-mounted drivers using the ceiling panel as a transducer, powered by a Mark Levinson Reference digital amplifier.

Sunseeker International have announced its brand new 74 Sport Yacht will get its world premiere at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival.

With 38 knots capability, Sunseeker 74 Sport Yacht, has a sleek and as the name suggests, sporty look and boasts the same design details as the Predator 74, which launched in January this year.
However, the difference in the 74 Sport Yacht is its flybridge – which is almost impossible to detect just looking at it from afar.

The exterior of the yacht features pillar-less windows down to the side deck and a helm sunroof which allows light into the interior and provides views from the saloon in all directions.

The flybridge offers an additional helm station, and space for entertaining with seating, dining and sunbathing options and a drawer fridge as standard. Optional bimini and wet bar upgrades can be chosen.

Depending on the owner’s wishes, the 74 Sport Yacht can be transformed into an ‘open’ yacht in warmer regions or a ‘closed’ yacht in cooler climates with a cockpit door mechanism which lowers itself into the sole of the yacht.

Following the success of their 50m Vertige S501, launched at the 2017 Monaco Yacht Show, the quick sale of of her hybrid-powered sister-ship S502 Elettra, currently in build and due to launch in February 2019 for an early May 2019 delivery, and the charter success of the Vertige, which was delivered last year and did over 20 weeks of charter and covered more than 12,000 trouble-free miles between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, Tankoa have decided to add two new superyachts to their fleet and to start building them on spec.

“Building on spec represents a major investment even for a financially strong, debt free shipyard, but it makes strategic sense by reducing the delivery time,”says Edoardo Ratto, General Manager at Tankoa. “Many owners are not interested in the first 6-8 months it takes to build the hull and superstructure, but they do want to be involved in the layout and interior décor, and in the choice of features and equipment, which can be decided when the metal work is already well advanced.”

Construction work has started at Tankoa’s metal work facility in La Spezia, Italy, on two all-aluminium, sub-500GT 50m sister ships to S501: the S501 type Hull#5 and S502 Elettra type Hull#6.

The new projects have the same naval architectural platform and exterior design to that of their predecessors and their basic general arrangement is also similar with fold down terraces in the owner’s suite on the main deck forward, a side-loading tender garage aft, and a large beach club at the transom. However, prospective clients will be able to tailor both the interiors and exterior layout to suit their own preferences.

Hull#5 will be powered with conventional diesel propulsion, whereas Hull#6 will come with a hybrid propulsion package developed in collaboration with Diesel Center in La Spezia. Like her sister ship, she will have four flexible propulsion modes: diesel-electric, full electric, traditional diesel and full-speed mode.

“Given the direction the market is moving in, reflected in the investment engine manufacturers are making on hybrid solutions, we decided three years ago to push forward and build the first 50m ‘Elettra’ with hybrid propulsion, providing excellent performances and range combined with reduced emissions and quieter cruising,” says Edoardo Ratto. “It all comes down to a question of customer choice.”

Michel Karsenti, Sales & Marketing director, says of their decision to build on spec:“In today’s market, affluent clients do not want to wait for the time it takes to build a yacht under 500 GRT from scratch. Building on spec is a fantastic solution for many reasons. Not only will a client be able to come to us and see his future boat already well advanced, he will also be able to choose his décor and layout, and take delivery the following season. Moreover, with a boat already half-way built, they don’t have to worry about putting together bank guarantees. As strong as Tankoa is, having to deal with financial security is always a process owners don’t like to handle. Instead, it is the shipyard that takes all the risk with its own cash flow. With this new spec build programme in place, the plan is to start a new build every time one sells…”

Construction work on Hull#5 and Hull#6 began first week of May and both yachts will be available for delivery for the 2020 summer season.

Tracy Edwards and her 1990 all female Whitbread Round the World Race crew, marked the full restoration of their yacht Maiden in London yesterday.

The yacht will set off for a three year project to promote girls’ education around the world and raise money to fund projects to empower young women.

Eight crew will be aboard Maiden when she sets off from Southampton to Jordan at the end of the year to promote The Maiden Factor Foundation, I am a Girl and The Girls’ Network. The project is supported by Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan, who also helped restore the famous yacht.

Before she starts her world tour, Maiden will be first unveiled at Cowes Week 2018 and then will joining in the final leg of the Volvo Ocean Race .

Iconic yacht Maiden won two legs of the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1990 and came second overall – the best result for a British boat since 1977 and a record that has never been beaten.

The yacht was rotting away when Tracy Edwards decided to have her restored.

Maiden – the yacht that made history with the first all-female crew to sail the Whitbread Round the World Race – has arrived home.

The iconic yacht, which was skippered during the 1989-90 race by Tracy Edwards, was transported from the Seychelles, where she had been discovered rotting away.

She has now been transferred to Hamble Yacht Services for a year-long refit. The boatyard did the original work on the yacht ahead of the Whitbread 27 years ago.

Once the work has been completed, Maiden will be unveiled at Cowes Week 2018 before joining in the final leg of the Volvo Ocean Race which will bring together yachts and crew from previous editions of the Whitbread Round the World Race.

Maiden will then be used as part of a global campaign to give more girls around the world access to a basic education.

Maiden’s restoration and global campaign, The Maiden Factor, is being made possible by HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan in memory of Her father, King Hussein I.

“My father, King Hussein I, would have been the first to offer his support and guidance to the new Maiden Project announced this week. I, as a young girl, fondly remember his ‘hands-on’ involvement with the original project which made sporting history, and surprisingly feel how the issues of female equality and values he championed all those years ago seem even more relevant today.”

“Having the intrepid Tracy Edwards MBE back at the helm is something I know my father would have been so happy to learn and he would have wanted me to be part of this project. As his daughter, I feel honored and humbled to be involved with the resurrection of the Maiden project as it embarks on its new chapter of maritime history,” continued the Princess.

“The knowledge that Maiden will once again travel the seas, means not only will the memory and legacy of my late father live on but we can all use this a platform to highlight the need of equal access to education for girls in all corners of the globe, referencing something that he always believed in: ‘anything is possible’.”

Many believed it wasn’t possible for an all-female crew to take part in the Whitbread Round the World Race – one of the most gruelling tests of human endurance.

Maiden won two legs of the race and came second overall – the best result for a British boat since 1977 and a record that has never been beaten.

“It’s shocking to me that over 61 million girls around the world are still denied one of the most basic rights; access to education. The struggle to get Maiden to the start line represents the barriers faced by so many, whilst also proving to the world that girls can overcome them, and achieve great things,” commented Edwards.

“The crew of Maiden faced many obstacles and prejudices. Very few people believed an all-female crew could complete the race and not only did we prove everyone wrong, we won two legs and came second overall. Now we would like to do the same for women around the world, who are being denied an education and the opportunity to reach their full potential,” she continued.

“To have support from HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan in honour of Her father is incredibly special as I know that without HM King Hussein I, Maiden would not have happened,” added Edwards.

Maiden, which carried the first all-female crew to ever sail around the world, across the finish line of the 1989/90 Whitbread Round the World Race, is heading back to the UK on Sunday (26 March).

The 58-foot yacht has been languishing in the Seychelles, where the iconic vessel has been sadly neglected.

Now in a new cradle, Maiden is waiting for the arrival of the ship that will take her home.

Once restored to her former glory, the yacht will be used to inspire women to take up sailing and challenge the perception of what women are capable of.

Maiden will become an “ambassador” for the not-for profit organisation, The Maiden Factor, which will work with charities such as I am Girl, Just a Drop, Girl Up and The Girl’s Network.

In 1990, a 27-year-old Edwards made the history books when her 12 crew on board Maiden defied the critics by winning two legs and finishing second in its class in the Whitbread Round the World Race (now Volvo Ocean Race).

According to The Maiden Factor blog, which keeps fans updated on the iconic yacht, Edwards had to remortgaged her house to buy Maiden for £110,000.

Called Prestige then, the former round the world competitor yacht was languishing in Cape Town’s commercial docks.

Edwards then had to re-mortgage Maiden to pay for the refit, and almost faced ruin until a former charter client, King Hussein of Jordan, stepped in to help.

Following the race, Maiden had to be sold to pay off debts, and went through a series of owners before being abandoned to rot in the Seychelles.

Edwards has spent three years raising funds to bring Maiden Home, and flew out in January to the Indian Ocean island to see the yacht again.

As recorded on the Maiden Factor blog, Edwards cried when she saw the battered yacht for the first time in 27 years.

“My poor baby, she’s such a mess,” she said.

“I had no idea she was in such bad shape. It is such a sad and gruesome sight. We have to get her home and fast.”

“I’d heard she was in a poor state but not this bad,” she adds. “I’ve been raising funds to bring her home for the last three years but it stopped me almost dead when I saw her,” continued Edwards.

“There was a physical pain in my heart at the sight. I guess it must have been building up. I didn’t think it would be this emotional. I cried, tears of delight at seeing her after so long but also distress at what she has become,” explained the Whitbread skipper.

“The boat was the 13th member of the crew and she looked after us, made sure we got home safely so the bond is immense. She is like an old friend and it is distressing to see this neglect. When I first heard she’d been abandoned I was surprised how heartbroken I was. It was like losing a member of the family,” stated Edwards.

“But we can rebuild her. She is like me, a fighter and a survivor,” she added.

Work to restore the iconic Whitbread Round the World yacht, Maiden, will begin in the coming months, with the vessel expected to sail into London in September.

The announcement from the Jordan Tourism Board comes following a renewed partnership between The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Maiden’s skipper, Tracy Edwards MBE.

In 1990, Edwards made the history books by leading the first all-female crew to the finish line of the Whitbread Round the World Race (now the Volvo Ocean Race) on board Maiden, which was sponsored by the Jordanian Royal family.

Her 12 crew on board Maiden defied the critics by winning two legs and finishing second in its class, the best performances in the race by a British boat since 1977.

The 58-foot yacht was recently discovered by Edwards falling into disrepair in the Indian Ocean.

Backed by the Jordan Tourism Board, and through a combination of crowdfunding and sponsorship, work to restore Maiden to its former glory is expected to begin shortly.

The yacht will then be used to carry on the legacy started in the 1980s by Edwards – to inspire women to take up sailing and challenge the perception of what women are capable of.

Maiden will become an “ambassador” for the not-for profit organisation, The Maiden Factor, which will work with charities such as I am Girl, Just a Drop, Girl Up and The Girl’s Network.

The yacht will sail the globe promoting the agenda of education for girls and raise funds for these associated charities as well as Maiden Education.

Commenting on the project, Edwards said: “Maiden is an inspiration and I want her to engage with people all over the world.”

“She is an icon of female empowerment, the ability and will to succeed against all odds and that’s something I want to harness and use to inspire young girls everywhere to achieve their full potential,” she stressed.

Filming has begun for a one off TV series which will follow the rescue and restoration of Maiden and also the selection and training of a new crew.

The original Maiden crew from 1989/90 will deliver the “grand dame of sailing” to London in September 2017 for her re-launch.

Celebrations will include sailing under Tower Bridge and handing Maiden over to her new crew.

Crew trials will test sailing skills on the water in the UK and in Jordan.

There is also filming already underway to accompany a documentary about Maiden’s completion of the 1989/90 Whitbread Round the World Race which will be aired on prime-time television and have a premiere in Leicester Square in time for Maiden’s reveal in London in September 2017.

Following the London film premiere, Maiden will attend the start of the 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race in Alicante. The yacht will then sail to Jordan for the winter.

Edwards said she was delighted that the Kingdom of Jordan had, once again, shown their support for women and sailing.

“We must ensure that the basic human right of every girl is to have an education, a conviction shared by His Majesty King Hussein of Jordan, who was the first person help me on my initial quest to get an all-female crew to sail around the world,” she said.

“It would be an understatement to say that I was delighted that the Kingdom of Jordan under the reign of his son, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, has stepped in to help me on my new mission to inspire a whole new generation and make Maiden a vessel for peace and education across the world,” added Edwards, who is now a motivational speaker.

Adler has confirmed it has started construction of the first Adler Suprema X at the Alto Adriatico shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The launch is scheduled for 2019.

The Suprema X Hybrid is based on the Adler Suprema introduced in 2016, of which it retains its features, such as the
carbon fibre/Kevlar construction and design by Nuvolari Lenard.
However at 25.25m the Suprema X Hybrad is two metres longer and more spacious.

The open-plan main deck offers a large saloon, dining for eight guests, a galley, day head, separate wheelhouse and Jacuzzi on the open foredeck.
The flybridge can have various layouts. The T-top with sunsails and hardtop with sun window versions provide maximum exposure to the sun and sea.
Owners can choose to remove the main deck wheelhouse and opt instead for the enclosed sky lounge version with a single helm station. This layout solution can be revised to provide extra guest space.

The lower deck boasts the full-beam owner’s stateroom with independent access, two en-suite guest cabins, and a forward VIP suite.
The Suprema X is available with conventional or hybrid propulsion. In the latter case, the Hybrid Marine Solution (HMS) package combines two electric motors and generators (E-Units), two Caterpillar C18 engines and battery banks of 170kW.
In diesel mode, the yacht will have a top speed of 30 knots, while in full-electric mode it will be 10 knots without exhaust fumes, vibration or noise.

The new flybridge Princess 70 will be unveiled globally at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018, but she can be seen ahead of her world premiere this weekend at the British Motor Yacht Show.

Just like the other craft in the brand’s flybridge class, the 26.6m2  Princess 70 boats modern, clean lines and is ideal for entertaining and socialising.
She features a large U-shaped dining area, with fully-equipped wetbar, barbecue, aft sunpad and a forward seating area, which cab be converted into a sunbed,  adjacent to the helm.

On the foredeck,  there is a forward facing sofa and table, plus a sun pad.

On the main deck, an aft galley arrangement opens out towards the cockpit, perfect for dining al fresco. Those who prefer a more formal dining solution, can take advantage of the  dining table in the saloon, which enjoys plenty of privacy thanks to large glass sliding doors. Large panoramic windows bring the outside world in and brighten up the indoor space with natural light.

Forward in the saloon are two more seating areas, as well as a 49″ LED TV and entertainment system. A pantograph door allows the helmsman easy access to the side decks from the helm station; plotters and touchscreens are provided by Raymarine.

There are  four cabins on the lower deck; a full beam master stateroom aft with a dedicated private staircase, a forward VIP guest cabin and two twin cabins.

The lower deck is light, thanks to windows throughout and opening portholes to allow fresh air in.

Princess 70 will be launched globally at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018 and can be previewed at the British Motor Yacht Show, 18th – 20th May 2018, alongside the V65, V60, V50 and S60.

The Apprentice star Lord Alan Sugar put his luxury superyacht – Lady A – on the market last summer, after the stunning craft underwent a year-long refit.

On sale through the superyacht brokers Edmiston, the British business magnate and Apprentice star is asking €14 million, around £12.34 million, for the 181-foot vessel.

When the superyacht was first put on sale in the summer of 2017, it cost £12.65 million, but the weaker pound means that if snapped up now, the new owner would save £300,000.

The Jon Bannenberg designed Lady A has gone through an intensive year-long refit at Burgess Marine.

The work has included an extension to the aft end of the upper deck to increase the exterior seating and social spaces, a redesigned and refitted interior, new paintwork and the installation of zero speed stabilizers.

Lady A was first launched in 1986 and was built in Japan by Nishii Zosen-Sterling for the Australian tycoon, Alan Bond, who named the vessel Southern Cross.

Lord Alan Sugar bought the yacht two years ago and renamed it Lady A after his wife, Ann. The couple have been together for more than 45 years.

Lady A has many features which strong reflect Bannenberg’s signature design, including the impressive sundeck, with its use of glass and spectacular views.

The shape of the full aluminium 65m superyacht is inspired by military stealth vessels, aircrafts and spacecrafts and boasts distinctive patterns, sharp angles and a reflective hull surface.

MY Roswell is  designed to have full electric running capabilities, supported by two diesel electric engines and large electric panels that cover the numerous horizontal surfaces of the vessel’s structure.

The bow side of the main deck boasts a large outdoor covered living area, which includes a beam length swimming pool, a lounge and a dining area. This main living area is connected to the main salon and the stern deck with large glass doors and walls, affording the superyacht plenty of space and light and bringing the outside world indoors.

The bridge deck is located on the upper deck, together with a helicopter platform, and a sky lounge.

Australian yacht designer Misha Merzliakov Yacht Design (MMYD) has launched two brand new superyacht concepts: the 70-metre trimaran and 40-metre explorer yacht, both made of aluminium, created in collaboration with Gold Coast City Marina and Shipyard (GCCM) and Shaun Phelps from Periscope Naval Architects.

The craft, 70m trimaran, Greta and 40m explorer yacht GCX40 are defined by a utilitarian look.
They both boast plenty of storage and options for toys and tenders, sleep up to 12 guests and can accommodate an array of  entertainment requirements.

Trimaran Greta look is softened by expansive decks and an infinity pool on the transom and enjoys a large storage area for toys and equipment.

“We have incorporated the requests from clients into ‘Greta’ to include practical and plenty of storage for submersibles, tenders, dive equipment and more. There is a balance between the interior and exterior entertaining and living spaces which lend the yacht to multiple generations of a family finding an area which suit their needs,” explained Misha.

Born from a collaboration between designer Dennis Ingemansson and the German Ned Ship Group, who specialise in zero emission yachts and solar powered boats, Green Expedition is a stunning 65m yacht with some truly impressive green credentials.

Green Expedition’s eco-friendly features boats solar cells, skysail, wave turbines and onboard recycling systems.

The solar panel area covers 150 square meters, and the helicopter platform can be converted to add an additional 60 square meters of solar cells. The skysail allows for energy efficient movement together with the retractable wind turbines.

The yacht is built with sturdiness and durability in mind and its steel hull construction has been assigned a ICE 1A classification to handle ice. Green Expedition can in fact sail through difficult icy areas like Antarctica and Alaska, and choppy seas.

The 55-metre (180ft) ship was last refitted in 2009, with traditional and contemporary interior styling by the late Italian architect Gae Aulenti, who was responsible for the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and Bureau Veritas.

Wood lined rooms, glass skylights and port holes and a wood and brass onboard library certainly add to the ambience on board: think the golden age of yachting.

Shenandoah can accommodate an intimate gathering of up to 10 people, with a luxurious master cabin, along with three double cabins and two additional pullmans.

Endeavour – £15.97 million

A rare chance to own a piece of America’s Cup history, and a yacht often attributed for the resurgence of the J-Class.

When she challenged for the Auld Mug in 1934, Endeavour was one of the most advanced ships of the day.

Built by Camper and Nicholson, the yacht’s owner, Thomas Sopwith utilised his aviation design expertise on her rig and winches, as well as giving her a steel hull and mast.

Although the America’s Cup challenge was unsuccessful, the 39.56-metre (130 ft) Endeavour still made her mark in the racing circuit and won the hearts of many.

Sadly, a series of owners mistreated her and she was left a complete wreck, abandoned in the Solent until she was bought by Elizabeth Meyer in 1984.

Endeavour was completed rebuilt by the Royal Huisman Shipyard in 1989 before undergoing an extensive refit in 2010/11 by Yachting Developments, New Zealand, which included a new deck structure and deck layout and a new rig and sails.

This stunning  yacht can sleep up to eight guests in a master suite, two doubles with en suite facilities and a twin cabin with bunk beds.

Marie – £25.61 million

With her distinct red and black hull, Marie certainly stands out from the crowd.

Reminiscent of a pirate ship (she even has miniature canons on board), there is nothing brusque about her stunning open-plan golden interior.

Large skylights provide plenty of natural light and the high gloss anigre finish gives a warm feel throughout.

This 55-metre (180ft) ketch even has a Steinway baby grand piano – for anyone wanting to relive the luxurious and decadent Great Gatsby lifestyle.

Marie has many elegant design features like the private aft owner’s cockpit and the Art Deco inspired skylight above the oval dining table.

Athena – £41 million

The fourth largest sailing yacht in the world, the graceful and majestic Athena is a timeless classic.

This three masted 90-metre schooner has played host to the likes of Hollywood actors Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Griffin Dunne and Fisher Stevens.

Designed by Pieter Beeldsnijder with Dykstra Naval Architects and built by the Royal Huisman Shipyard, she is based on the Italian fashion designer family Gucci’s 1927 wooden schooner, Creole.

The 90-metre (295.3ft) Athena is a true blend of traditional yachting style, along with modern sailing technology.

Designed by Rebecca Bradley Interior Design, her rich interior features wood and a palette of blues and creams.

Five sumptuous cabins, including a stunning full beam master suite, can sleep 10 in utter luxury.

Sybaris – £80.29 million

Sleek and sculptured, Sybaris is the sixth largest private yacht in the world, and everything about her is elegant and impressive.

Launched last year, she was designed by the creators of the iconic Maltese Falcon, Perini Navi, along with the expertise of the award winning designed Philippe Briand.

Her size and scale amaze: Sybaris is powered by 3,000sq m of sail. She also has two Rondal custom produced carbon masts, a retractable keel, and a new captive winch system.

Down below, it is easy to see why she won last year’s Monaco Yacht Show‘s best interior award.

The Miami-based PH Design has created a spacious and luxurious open plan living space, with a focused use of titanium throughout the yacht.

The lustrous alloy was used for handholds, rails and other fittings. Specialist craftsmen from the F1 world were brought in to help with the construction.

Bespoke furniture and bleached oak joinery gives it a contemporary style, and 12 guests can be comfortably accommodated the six guest cabins. The full-beam owner’s suite includes two bathrooms a dressing area, walk-in wardrobe, an office and lounge.

Outside, a broad, well-protected deck affords private dining and lounging, with a unique 60-foot flybridge offering incredible views under sail.

The 70-meter (230ft) Sybaris is currently for sale, lying in the Monaco area.

Eos – £116.45 million

A former holder of the largest private sailing yacht in the world title, the custom sail yacht Eos was build by the world famous Lürssen shipyard.

The 92.9 metre (304.89ft) Bermuda rigged schooner belongs to billionaire media mogul Barry Diller and his fashion designer wife, Diane von Fürstenberg.

She was delivered in 2006 and underwent a refit in 2013 following a fire on board.

Eos’ interior has been designed by François Catroux, named by Vanity Fair as the “Über-Rich’s Favorite Interior Designer”.

Known for his symmetrical design, Catroux previously penned the interior design for another Lürssen superyacht – the 316-foot Limitless.

Eos has a clean and contemporary interior, with a use of neutral tones and wood.

She can take up to 16 guests and 21 crew and features a displacement aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Eos has plenty of toys and tenders to keep guests entertained at sea.

Maltese Falcon  – £116.45-£232 million

Chartered by the likes of Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman, the iconic Maltese Falcon has to be one of the most photographed and best known yachts of all time.

The 88-metre (288.7ft) Perini Navi yacht is famed for its revolutionary sailing system – the Falcon Rig – which delivers exceptional performance and speed.

The square rigged DynaRig sail plan is automated. Three self-standing and rotating masts accommodate 15 sails for a total sail area of 2,400sq m. These are controlled by a touch of a button on the ship’s bridge.

Although purists might argue the Maltese Falcon is not a true sailing superyacht, most agree that she is stunning to behold.

The VIP outside bedroom

Original built for the American capitalist Tom Perkins (he would only ever say that she cost more than $150 million, but less than $300 million), the Maltese Falcon was later sold for $100 million to one of the richest women in the world, billionaire hedge fund founder Elena Ambrosiadou.

Today, she is available for charter, taking up to 12 guests for the most luxurious holiday of their lives: think Jacuzzis, an al fresco cinema, spa, gym, spacious saloon and a crew of 17 to deliver your every want and need.

Sailing Yacht A – £360 million

Sailing Yacht A is the world’s most expensive privately owned sailing superyacht.

Again, while many argue that she is not a true sailing yacht, her size certainly makes her impressive.

The leviathan is a staggering 143-metres (469 ft) long, and has three distinctive mast which are some of the tallest and most highly loaded freestanding composite structures in the world.

Each mast can sustain 90 knots of wind.

The three sails were created in 2016 at Doyle Sailmakers in Salem, Massachusetts, and the tallest mast – 91 metres – even has a small room inside.

Built for the Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko, the sail-assisted superyacht has been designed by Frenchman Philippe Starck, who was behind Melnichenko’s previous superyacht, Motor Yacht A, and Steve Jobs’ superyacht, Venus.

This advanced superyacht has a hybrid diesel-electric propulsion system and state-of-the-art navigation systems.

The interior is kept a closely guarded secret, although it is believed that Sailing Yacht A has eight floors.

Much has been made of its unique 93-square-foot curved glass observation pod in the vessel’s hull.

Sailing Yacht A was built at Nobiskrug’s shipyard at Kiel, Germany, and features teak, and a steel hull and steel superstructure with high-tech composite fashion plates that can be formed into any shape or size.

Inside, Sailing Yacht can luxuriously accommodate up to 20 guests and a crew of 54.

Created by Max Zhivov, the designer behind the electric powered trawler Trondheim 40 and the LEGO inspired MYBO modifiable yacht system, the Modul GO concept is an ecological and mobile houseboat.

The Modul GO idea came to Zhivov after taking canoe trips with friends and was inspired by kids’ construction games, such as LEGO,  and the concept of IKEA’s flat pack furniture.

The idea behind Modul Go is to create an affordable way of life on water. The houseboat is mobile and can be easily modified according to customers’ needs.

Modul GO comes with two rooms, cafe, equipment rental point, a base for hydroplanes, a boat refueling module, cargo variant for transporting of goods and small passenger cars as standard, and is made on basic platforms which measure 9 m x 4,5 m and 13 m x 6,5 m.

The houseboat is fully ecological and comes with electric motors and solar panels. The engines can be chosen according to the houseboat model and its functions.

Modul GO is designed with mobility in mind and can be transported by two euro tracks and quickly assembled by four people over two days.

Max Zhivov has created the houseboat concept with the idea of an eco holiday village in mind, where Modul GO can be rented for a vacation.

Zhivov is also planning to develop a Modul GO app to design sections of the houseboat with customers.
Buyers will be able to access the design on their smartphone and see all the plans, tech options and calculate the price of their final project.

This jaw-dropping concept was unveiled at The Monaco Yacht Show 2015 and of late it’s definitely picked up a lot of interest.

Design company Migaloo Private Submersible Yachts presented the designs for a private, floating island at the show.

The 80-metre tall structure, that travels at speeds of up to eight knots, features a waterfall, shark feeding station, heli-deck, and two beach clubs.

There’s also an owner’s penthouse, two VIP suites and six guest suites. Plus a glass bottomed jacuzzi, cocktail bar, barbecue area, a lift, and even a menagerie of tropical birds.

At night, entertainment can be provided by laser shows and an outdoor cinema.

And if that’s not enough, the private island also comes with a submersible yacht, Migaloo’s main output, in a choice of sizes.

Think it’s the stuff of pure imagination? Think again. Migaloo say that they’ve received “very strong” expressions of interest from clients across the world.

Crowned Top Novelties at the Miami Boat Show, Ferretti Group has unveiled three new projects: Riva 66’ Ribelle, Custom Line 106’ and Pershing 170.

Riva 66’ Ribelle

Launching this year, 66’ Ribelle (Italian for ‘rebel’) is the new model in the Riva fleet. A product of collaboration between
Officina Italiana Design, the Strategic Product Committee and Ferretti Group Engineering Department, it will
be built at Riva’s Sarnico shipyard. 66’ Ribelle will benefit from brand’s distinctive features in a boat and will have added features which are yet to be unveiled but the Ferretti Group said that its “very name demonstrates the desire to break the mold.”

Custom Line 106’

Ferretti Group describes the new Custom Line 106’ as “the new jewel in the planing series”. This new craft has been designed by Milan-based naval architect Francesco Paszkowski (who also designed the Custom Line 120’), working in close collaboration with the Strategic Product Committee and Ferretti Group Engineering Department.

Italian shipyard CRN has launched their newest superyacht, the 50m Latona.
Inspired by the historic Superconero yacht, built by CRN in the 60s, Latona was created by CRN’s
Engineering and Interiors & Design departments with Zuccon International Project.

Built in steel and aluminium, the 50m length, 8.60m beam and five wide decks yacht is all sleek lines and boasts a slender bow with spacious interiors.

With the balcony used for cruising and a large terrace overlooking the sea, the area is open and can be enjoyed when the yacht is
moored. The owner and guests can also enjoy constant sea view thanks to the yacht’s extensive windows.

The floodable garage allows the tender to enter the water without using a davit, and creates an open-air living area integrated into the beach club.

“Every launch is a reason for great pride for the shipyard”, stated CRN’s and Ferretti Group’s CEO
Alberto Galassi. “This complex, magnificent, 50 meters construction, realizes the desire of a selective and
resolute owner, who has turned to the expertise and the ability of CRN to build his personal project, turning
his vision into a magnificent vessel.”
Latona 50 meters was launched in a private ceremony and will have its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2018.

Jaguar speedboat concept

Jaguar has a solid racing heritage and this is reflected in the British luxury car manufacturer’s foray into the world of bespoke speedboats.

Originally launched to promote the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, the speedboat has Jaguar DNA all over it, with seductive lines and opulent luxury.

The concept speedboat has a gel coat fibreglass hull finished on top with a natural teak decking. This is split by a carbon fibre fin, inspired by the iconic Jaguar D-Type.

Speed and beauty were certainly a priority for the designers.

The front of the boat flows seamlessly into the screen and the red 2+1 cabin follows the sporting character of Jaguar cars.

Jaguar Cars’ heritage is also subtly recognised with fuel filler caps inspired by the Series 1 XJ.

A polished aluminium propeller and pop-up mooring post imitates how the boat could be powered and docked respectively.

Lancia di Lancia

Launched in the glamorous surroundings of the Venice Film Festival in 2009, the Lancia di Lancia is the first true Gran Turismo of the seas.

Designed by the Italian SACS Marine, it has aristocratic elegance which is complemented by its strong and sporty performance.

Expect heads to turn while cruising the Grand Canal – this boat certainly stands out among the stunning classical Venetian architecture.

The Lancia di Lancia is also convertible, with an electric capote and shell shaped windscreen.

There are lifejacket holders under the seats, and standard on-board equipment includes, among other things, a height-adjustable leather steering wheel, two stainless steel bottle holders for 1.5-litre bottles, and an extra storage pocket for your tablet device.

The pivotal water-ski hooks are also outrageously practical.

From the bridge, the hooks can be released, extended and retracted again at the touch of a button. This means that nothing will slide around come high speeds or waves – and to make doubly sure, you will also have special cargo elements and anti-slip mats at your disposal.

The specially designed sun visor, coupled with an anti-dust chamois, ensures that you will always have a clear view when out on the water.

The green-lacquered yacht is, as expected, reminiscent of Skoda cars.

The line of the cabin windows rising gently towards the rear are clearly inspired by Skoda’s coupés.

All the surfaces culminate in three-dimensional sculptures, giving the boat its independent and powerful character.

The striking tapered bow is somewhat reminiscent of a shark.

Riva have unveiled the exterior of their new flybridge, Riva 90′ at Boot Dusseldorf.
Officina Italiana Design, the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee and the Group’s Strategy Department all collaborated to create the stunning new craft, which is characterised by a streamline design with large hull glazing, integrated portholes and an on deck floor-to-ceiling window which runs along the entire length of the lounge.
Another large window on the foredeck, side windows and expansive windscreens at raised helm allow the new Riva 90′ to bathe in natural light.

The Ferretti Group’s patented concealed stern stairs, a popular feature on the 56′ Rivale, also make an appearance on the company’s newest flybridge.

Riva presented their latest addition to their flybridge range, the Riva 90′, at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida.

Riva 90′ is born from a collaboration between Officina Italiana Design, the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee and the Group’s Strategy Department.

The new 90 foot model complements and reinforces the aesthetics of their extremely successful predecessors, Riva Corsaro 100′, Riva 110′ Dolcevita with particular emphasis to its sleek and dynamic exterior styling, the generous use of glass for the hull-mounted windows, from the stern to the spacious owner’s suite on the main desk and the raised pilothouse.

The stern area features the Ferretti Group’s patented concealed stairway system and the garage can accommodate a Williams 395 tender and a personal watercraft.

There is a choice of three engines for the Riva 90′. Standard propulsion is a pair of MTU 12v 2000 M96L, cruising speed 22 knots and maximum speed of 26 knots, alternatively buyers can choose two MTU 16v 2000 M84 engines for a cruising speed of 24 knots with a maximum speed of 28, or a third option is a pair of MTU 16v 2000 M93, cruising speed of 26 knots and maximum speed of 30.

The Riva 90′ will be equipped with underway and zero-speed stability fins and upon request can come with Seakeeper gyro stabilisers.

Princess Yachts have announced the launch of their all-new Princess S78, which the company says “will take the mantle as the flagship of the Princess S Class range of sportbridge yachts.”

The S78 is fitted with a MAN 1900 mhp engine and the resin-infused hull delivers exceptional performance with a top speed of up to 39 knots. It also boasts a large central access to the cockpit, modular seating and a sociable galley-aft arrangement to create a space for al fresco entertaining.

The Princess S78 will be having its world premiere at the Dusseldorf Boat Show in January.

Princess V60

The latest addition to the Plymouth-based boat manufacturer’s popular V class is set to launch in spring 2018 and will reportedly reach a top speed of 38 knots half loaded.

As with the new Princess V65, the V60 has a very sociable layout with the sunpad and expansive dining area leading to a fully equipped aft galley and extensive seating in the open-plan saloon.

An electric sliding sunroof is fitted in the bright saloon to maximise natural light.

The V60 boasts three cabins, with the option of a further cabin aft for occasional guests or crew.

Fairline Yachts Targa 43 Open

The British manufacturer’s new Targa 43 Open will launch in spring 2018 and is the latest design from Fairline’s partnership with iconic yacht designer Alberto Mancini.

Fairline’s new Targa 43 Open, of which ten models were sold on the first day of London Boat Show 2017, echoes the versatile, light, bright and stylish feel of the Targa 63 GTO.

The two cabin, two bathroom sportscruiser will be available with twin Volvo Penta IPS 500 or IPS 600, which is expected to achieve a minimum fully loaded speed of 34 knots.

Head of Design at Fairline Yachts, Andrew Pope, adds: “The Targa 43 was a phenomenally popular boat when originally launched in the late 1990s and we are confident this all-new model for the 21st century will be a worthy successor.”

Sunseeker Predator 50

The all-new Predator 50 is the smallest Predator ever made and will be unveiled at at Boot Düsseldorf in January 2018 along with the Predator 74.

The entry-level design comes with tender garage and sports a fully opening hardtop and cockpit glazing to create an elegant open-plan cockpit and saloon.

Forward and aft cockpit seating can be folded down to create an enlarged sun bathing area while up to four guests can be accommodated as standard. An additional bunk cabin can be created in lieu of the lower saloon to provide stylish accommodation for six.

Sunseeker’s expert detailing will no doubt be evident throughout the new design.

The Predator 50 will be fitted with the new Volvo Penta D8-600 engines mated to shaftdrives with optional electric steering and joystick manoeuvrability.

Sunseeker Predator 74

The largest Predator model promises a punchy 40-knot top speed and is available in a three and four-cabin arrangement.

Epitomising the latest Sunseeker styling cues, the Predator 74 is sleek, stylish and boasts oversized pillarless windows, providing uninterrupted views from the saloon.

One feature garnering lots of attention is the ingenious cockpit door which can open conventionally, but also lower into the sole of the yacht; transforming the cruiser into an ‘open’ yacht in warmer climes or a ‘closed’ yacht in cooler regions.

The 74 is powered by MAN V12 1550 horsepower engines for top speeds of up to 35 knots or MAN V12 1900 engines to clock up to 40 knots.

Kraken 50

The Kraken 50 has been designed by Kevin Dibley

Hong Kong-based Kraken Yachts has announced that its second model – the Kraken50 – promises to be “a true blue water cruiser” and will launched in January 2018.

They have commissioned award-winning New Zealand designer Kevin Dibley to produce the yacht, which offers as standard a range of safe and comfortable blue water cruising features.

It has a twin headsail rig and standard electric winches making it easily to handle by a small crew from the cockpit.

Bavaria C45

Bavaria Yachts will be giving their new Bavaria C45 its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January.
The 13.98 metre sailing yacht, described as having ‘superyacht character’ boasts a wide range of features usually only found in much bigger craft, including BBQ grill with wet bar in the cockpit, space for the dinghy in the stern and, along with the classic 3 and 4 cabin version, the option to order a 5-cabin. Bavaria C45’s superyacht-like features include the extended hull with its three large windows and the slimline appearance of the structure created by the long band of windows. The deck and structure are all level areas without steps or edges, just like on an actual superyacht.

Princess Yachts has unveiled the details of its latest addition to the V Class range, the Princess V60.

Set to launch in Spring 2018, the 19.7 metre yacht will reportedly be able to reach speeds of 38 knots† at half load.

The sleek design features the Princess standard deep-V hull, which the company claims offers more fuel efficiency and interior space.

Inside, the new V60 has a contemporary design, with meticulous attention to detail.

An electric sliding sunroof is fitted in the open-plan saloon to maximise natural light, alongside a U-shaped sofa. The saloon leads to the galley where there is another L-shaped sofa and a folding dining table.

Sliding doors open out to the large cockpit, which boasts a wetbar complete with a barbecue and coolbox.  The luxury yacht also comes with a generous foredeck.

The Princess V60 owner’s stateroom has a private ensuite bathroom

The Princess V60 can accommodate six guests in three cabins – a master with a private ensuite, a double cabin and starboard twin cabin. A single crew cabin with ensuite and storage is also available as an option.

Bénéteau’s much awaited 9.75 metre Figaro 3 will be built in the former Jeanneau shipyard of Nantes Cheviré.

The first 50 boats, reserved for the members of the Figaro class will be priced at €155,000 (excluding tax) then the boat will be available to buy at  €175,000 (excluding tax).

French yacht builder, Bénéteau has announced that mass production of the new Figaro 3 is expected to begin shortly.

It follows successful sea trials of the firm’s prototype at Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie on France’s Atlantic coast between July and mid September.

The 9.75-metre VPLP design is the first one-design production monohull to be equipped with foils.

“The feedback is very positive. The results are in line with what the naval architect envisaged: the foils provide both additional stability and a phenomenon of lift, which makes the boat very balanced,” explained the head of the Figaro 3 programme at Bénéteau, Eric Ingouf.

“The gentleness and precision of the helm took everyone by surprise and it’s a very important element with a view to not overloading the autopilots,” he noted.

Following the sea trials, a second Figaro 3 is now being built.

Once tested, it will be used as the ‘yardstick’ for the production boat ahead of the start of mass production at Bénéteau’s Cheviré site.

“We’re beginning to produce hulls and decks from mid-September,” confirmed Ingouf.

“All the boats, which are manufactured between September 2017 and December 2018 will only be delivered to their owners at the end of 2018 in the name of sporting equity with a view to participation in La Solitaire-URGO Le Figaro,” he added.

The 50th edition of the famous La Solitaire-URGO Le Figaro singlehanded race in the summer of 2019 will be the first race to feature the Figaro Bénéteau 3.

The protoype of the eagerly anticipated Figaro Bénéteau 3 is being put through its paces during sea trials off France’s Vendée region.

This is ahead of the start of production in October of the very first on-design foiling monohull.

The sea trials will be taking place over two months and will examine the position of the keel in relation to the mast, the position of hardware and the exact configuration of the keel housing.

All eyes will be on France’s Vendée region in July – the location for the sea trials of the Figaro Bénéteau 3 prototype.

The very first one-design foiling monohull will be extensively tested for two months.

Bénéteau will be particularly looking at the position of the keel in relation to the mast, which will enable the hull structure to be confirmed.

The position of hardware will also require a long test phase, and the resulting decision will influence the positioning of the reinforcements to the deck foam.

The French boatbuilder also said the trials will decide the position of the keel and the exact configuration of the keel housing.

If all goes according to plan, the Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost designed Figaro Bénéteau 3 will go into production in early October.

Head of the Figaro Bénéteau 3 programme within Groupe Bénéteau, Marc Vaillier, said: “In terms of timing, we’re pretty much on track, give or take a couple of weeks. There are still some additional tweaks, which require a little more time, but we’re managing to stick to our schedule”.

Assembly of the foiling monohull is already underway.

Having been infused, the hull has just had all its bulkheads fitted, the engine’s drive train is in place and the keel reinforcements are in position.

The deck, which is also infused, is complete, and the deck fittings will be installed over the coming week.

During this same time frame, Bénéteau will dry fit the deck so as to check all the elements conform and the secondary polyester mouldings, such as the engine housing and companionway, are useable. The mast will be stepped in the third week of July.

Bénéteau says the sails have been designed and “all that’s left is a discussion to outline the finishing touches between the North Sails sail loft and Yoann Richomme, winner of the 2016 Solitaire Bompard le Figaro and consultant skipper on the prototype as head of the Measurement and Safety Committee within the Figaro Class.”

“We have every intention of being in full working order to supply the production line from early October,” stressed Vaillier.

“We’re seeking to release one or two hulls in advance: manufacturing these large polyester composite parts takes time and we must be methodical, which is the key to the tempo if we want to release 1 one-design a week,” he added.

It looks like that from early October, the Figaro Bénéteau 2 will be at the dawn of her final season of offshore racing before a much-deserved retirement.

Rosetti Superyachts has unveiled details of their new superyacht concept.

The 85m expedition supply vessel has been designed by renowned Italian yacht architect Tommaso Spadolini, famous for the Aslec 4 and Gio Chi The to name a few, whilst her hull has been developed by Rolls-Royce Marine in Norway.

Rolls-Royce has also supplied the engines, power electric system and propulsion units.

The distinctive bow flair reduces sea spray ensuring dry sailing and comes with a high main deck forward positioned at a lofty 12.5m above the waterline.

The superyacht is available in two versions with a fully certified helipad located amidships or aft, according to the client’s preference.

Both configurations are rated at approximately 2,200GT and can carry large tenders on deck, but the aft helipad offers advantages such as storing a yacht amidships without affecting helicopter operations.

The large salon under the helipad can also be replaced with a dedicated helicopter hangar.

The lower deck boasts a galley, accommodation for 12 crew and crew lounge, whilst the main deck houses four double guest cabins with en-suite bathrooms, plus additional crew accommodation. The captain’s cabin is situated on the bridge deck.

The full-beam owner’s deck features an open-plan suite forward, his & her bathrooms, walk-in wardrobe, and aft dining room. The upper deck forward has a private owner’s  lounge, study and access to the open foredeck with pool. Another salon aft serves as a media room and/or sky lounge.

The bridge deck provides outstanding visibility, while the open-under lower deck with access to the engine room comprising workshop, laundry, cold/freezer room, dry store, linen store, garbage room and other areas.

The portside garage on the lower deck has space for two tenders, plus various Personal Water Craft (the MOB tender is stowed in its own covered bay on the foredeck). To starboard there is a spa area with massage beds, sauna, bathroom and dressing room which have direct access to a large beach club aft with gym and fold-down platforms on both sides.

Tommaso Spadolini has created an interior proposal that he describes “contemporary and comfortable but not lavish.”, however owners can bring in their designer of choice if they prefer.

“This is the most ‘authentic’ yacht I’ve designed in my 40-year career,” says Spadolini. “A fundamental part of the design process was reviewing the many commercial ships launched by Rosetti  to date. These rugged, seaworthy vessels are required to operate around the clock in all weathers, and that same DNA has been integrated into the design of the 85m expedition concept.”

Rolls-Royce have unveiled their new 62 metre yacht, Crystal Blue, a new concept that benefits from advanced ship intelligence solutions and hybrid propulsion based on LNG (liquified natural gas) fuel and battery power.

The yacht accommodates 12+ guests and 12 crew and comes with a smaller 42 metre yacht, Blue Shadow, a remotely-controlled, steel-hulled support vessel used for transporting and launching Crystal Blue’s tender, helicopter and any other toys that the yacht owner may have. The addition of a second vessel allows designers to make better use of the aft area of Crystal Blue, allowing room to include an infinity pool or a beach area. The shadow boat also doubles up as the owner’s personal LNG bunkering barge.

LNG fuel is increasingly being specified for use by commercial vessels, coastal ferries being a good example, yet the size of the fuel tanks and the lack of LNG bunkering infrastructure has made it difficult for the yacht sector to fully embrace this cleaner, odourless fuel.

Oskar Levander, Rolls-Royce SVP Concepts and Innovation, said at the Global Superyacht Forum (GSF) in Amsterdam: “Crystal Blue has been designed specifically to show how new technology can meet the yacht sector’s increased demand for higher performance, greater operating ranges and increased levels of guest comfort, without impacting the environment.”

“Burning LNG has clear advantages over Marine Diesel Oil for the yacht sector.”, explained Henrik Alpo Sjöblom, Project Manager in the Rolls-Royce Blue Ocean team.

“There is no smoke, it doesn’t emit any unpleasant odours or fumes and it meets stringent emissions regulations, allowing yachts to enter otherwise prohibited ecologically sensitive waters.”

“We have dimensioned Crystal Blue fuel tanks for a range of 3000 nautical miles without refuelling but with the Shadow’s additional fuel capacity, the range increases to 4400 nautical miles, meaning that most of the typical yachting areas are accessible.”

Crystal Blue utilises an intelligent dynamic positioning system which automatically controls twin azimuthing thrusters (which give ships better maneuverability than a fixed propeller and rudder system) and a TT1100 bow thruster – this is technology usually found on offshore support vessels hower on Crystal Blue, this system allows the yacht to remain, without anchoring, in the right spot on the water and ‘follow the sun’ to ensure sunbathers can enjoy the “optimum tanning angle” on deck.

As explained by Levander: “Our ship intelligence and remote-control concepts have allowed us to design a yacht for the future that has the bridge located below the bow, inside the vessel. The crew is able to monitor and control the vessel using sophisticated sensors, cameras, display screens and situational awareness technologies; but an internal bridge frees up the traditional area of the bridge in the forward part of the superstructure to let owners and guests enjoy a panoramic vista that is traditionally only enjoyed by the crew.”

Design studio Expleo, founded by husband and wife team Demetrius Tanase and Dana Tanase, product designer and graphic designer respectively, have revealed their stunning design concept for a 100m superyacht, IntimiSEA.

The superyacht can accommodate up to 12 guests and 24 crew, plus the captain.

The owner suite is located on on the higher deck and a deck below is specifically designed for fun and entertainment.

Featuring a sunbath, swimming pool with slides, party room, dining space, spa and gym, as well as a wellness area, games and casino room, the lower deck has everything to have fun at sea. Throw in an amphitheatre and IntimiSEA has just about everything you need for lavish entertaining on board.
